Set at 300m above sea level and surrounded by some of New Zealand's most spectacular mountain scenery, Wanaka enjoys four distinct seasons. With half the annual rainfall compared to the national average at only 682mm, Wanaka enjoys crisp and clear autumn days, with most rainfall occurring in the spring.
In summer, daily temperatures can get into the late 20s (celsius) though averaging around 24° and in winter during ski season the average temperature is around 10°.
The prevailing wind tends to be from the South which gives Roys Bay Estate a distinct advantage as it is sited on the sheltered side of the bay. While snow can fall in Wanaka township during winter, it tends to be light in nature and doesn't linger.
